David Alexander

David has worked as a staff writer for the Daily Post in Palo Alto and The Times-Republican in Marshalltown, Iowa and has freelanced for publications both in Ann Arbor, Mich. and the Bay Area.

During a decade as a working journalist, David has written event coverage, watchdog pieces but particularly enjoys long-form narrative articles that allow him to illuminate the struggles and triumphs of normal people.

In 2012, David interviewed President Barack Obama during his re-election campaign for The Times-Republican and wrote a narrative essay about the experience.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Western Michigan University. He agrees with Justice Louis Brandeis’s assessment that sunlight is the best disinfectant. He lives in San Jose and owns a cat.
