Rachel Leven

Rachel Leven is a freelance reporter for San José Spotlight. She most recently worked in Washington, D.C. as an investigative reporter for the Center for Public Integrity. Before that, she covered environmental policy for Bloomberg BNA (now known as Bloomberg Industry Group) and money and politics for The Hill newspaper.

Her work on inequality in natural disasters was named as a finalist for a 2019 Scripps Howard Award and her investigation of the Trump administration’s impact on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was included in the book, “Best American Science and Nature Writing 2018.”

She moved to San Jose in February 2020 with her husband and their dog, Ashton.
