Yes.

As of January 2026, San Jose is tied with two other U.S. cities for having the most Costcos in the country.  A new location in West San Jose will bring the city’s total to six, surpassing San Diego and Phoenix, with five stores each.

Costco has long-planned to build a new warehouse in San Jose’s Westgate West Shopping Center, but the project has been hotly contested among residents. In an attempt to block the proposal, a group called West Valley Citizens for Responsible Development filed a lawsuit arguing the San Jose City Council erred in approving the project in October 2024. A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge recently rejected the complaints, clearing the way for the development to move forward.

Once construction begins, Costco expects the project to take about 21 months to complete.
